Insulet Is Moving Closer to a Moat, in Our Opinion
Insulet kicked off 2018 in strong fashion, slightly exceeding our expectations on the top- and bottomlines. We’ve moderately increased our fair value estimate by $6 to $69 per share, after baking in more optimistic projections related to the anticipated launch of OmniPod DASH later this year, the approval of Insulet’s hybrid closed-loop tubeless pump system in late 2019, and the impending switch to direct distribution in Europe. While we’ve held Insulet’s moat trend at positive for a number of ...Insulet is engaged in the development, manufacturing and sale of its Omnipod? System, an insulin delivery system for people with insulin-dependent diabetes, which consists of two product lines: the Omnipod Insulin Management System and Omnipod DASH? Insulin Management System. The Omnipod System features a self-adhesive disposable tubeless Pod, which is worn on the body and provides up to three days of non-stop insulin delivery without the need to see or handle a needle, and a handheld Personal Diabetes Manager. The Omnipod System communicates wirelessly, provides for automated cannula insertion and eliminates the need for multiple daily injection therapy or the use of pump and tubing.
