Markel Hit by Equity Exposure in First Quarter
We've noted previously that Markel's results in recent years have been buoyed by a benign catastrophe environment and a bull equity market. We saw a reversal in terms of catastrophes in 2017, and in the first quarter of 2018, the capital markets backdrop turned more adverse.
