Shares of Wide-Moat Pepsi Provide a Compelling Opportunity for Long-Term Investors
Shares of Pepsi have fallen more than 14% year to date compared with the nearly 4% growth in the S&P 500 index over the same time frame. We attribute this underperformance to apprehension around industrywide pressures facing the soft drink category (stock returns across the soft drink companies we cover have declined by a high-single-digit rate year to date) as well as concerns that Pepsi's competitive position in this market is weakening.
