Auto Opportunity Drives Our Positive View On Potential Qualcomm-NXP Semiconductors Tie-Up
Shares of Qualcomm spiked on Thursday as reports surfaced claiming the firm was in talks to acquire NXP Semiconductors  for more than $30 billion. Without knowing the status of the negotiations or the final purchase price, our initial reaction to the strategic potential deal is positive for Qualcomm, as NXP boasts a strong product portfolio with material presence in the automotive space (40% of revenue) in addition to the smartphone market.
