Best Idea Qualcomm Vehemently Opposes Unsolicited Broadcom Bid in Letter to Shareholders
On Jan. 16, Qualcomm sent a letter to shareholders and held an investor presentation to underscore both its near-term and long-term opportunities as it implores stockholders to reject Broadcom’s hostile takeover proposal. Specifically, management said that Qualcomm’s virtuous cycle of standards leadership, intellectual property leadership, and product innovation would be disrupted by the cost-cutting endeavors of Broadcom. Assuming $1.50 in adjusted EPS accretion from NXP Semiconductors and $1.5...Qualcomm is engaged in the development and commercialization of foundational technologies for the wireless industry. The company's segments include: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, which is a developer and supplier of integrated circuits and system software based on code division multiple access, orthogonal frequency division multiple access and other technologies; Qualcomm Technology Licensing, which grants licenses or otherwise provides rights to use portions of its intellectual property portfolio, which, among other rights, include certain patent rights essential to and/or useful in the manufacture and sale of certain wireless products; and Qualcomm Strategic Initiatives, which makes investments.
