UnitedHealth Increases Access to Low-Cost Diagnostic Labs LabCorp and Quest
Uncertainty around whether UnitedHealth would terminate its long-standing exclusive contract with LabCorp as the primary in-network diagnostic lab was finally extinguished with the announcement that UnitedHealth would maintain its relationship with LabCorp while also fully bringing on Quest Diagnostics in-network starting in 2019. Although this announcement does not shift our fair value estimates for any of the three narrow-moat companies, the news did provide a lift for LabCorp and Quest, whose...Quest Diagnostics provides diagnostic information services. The company's diagnostic information segment provides information based on the menu of routine, non-routine and clinical testing and anatomic pathology testing, and other diagnostic information services. The company's testing capabilities, includes services for the predisposition, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of cancers and other diseases, and provides tests in several fields, including endocrinology, immunology, neurology and oncology. The company's diagnostic solutions provides risk assessment services for the life insurance industry, as well as provides healthcare organizations and clinicians health information technology solutions.
