Morningstar | Seven Group Has the Potential to be Australia's Next Major Conglomerate.

Seven Group Holdings is a large industrial equipment and investment company. The main operating business is WesTrac, the sole authorised Caterpillar dealer for New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. WesTrac has a 100% interest in AllightSkes and a 100% interest in Coates Hire. WesTrac is the dominant heavy-equipment supplier in its authorised regions and offers strong exposure to the local government, construction, and mining sectors. Seven Group holds a 40.9% interest in Australian-Securities-Exchange-listed Seven West Media. The media shareholding, while offering few synergies with the industrial businesses, provides passive exposure to the highly cyclical domestic television, newspaper, and magazine sectors. Kerry Stokes holds a 68% shareholding in Seven Group, providing a dominant position on company strategy, structure, and management.
