Sun Life Turns in a Strong Third Quarter
Sun Life delivered strong profitability in the third quarter, but we see nothing in the results to alter our fundamental take on the company. Operating annualized ROE for the quarter was 15.7%, and the company is modestly exceeding our cost of equity on this basis for the first nine months of the year. Given the low interest rate environment, this is impressive, but we would note that the improvement in third quarter earnings was driven largely by changes in management’s profitability assumption...Sun Life Financial is a holding company.
