Stable Credit Trends Boost Synchrony's 2Q

Narrow-moat-rated Synchrony Financial finished the second quarter mostly in line with our expectations. The company generated earnings of $0.61 per share, flat with the previous quarter. Receivables grew 10.7% year over year, slightly below our forecast of 11%. We’ll be fine-tuning our near-term forecast to reflect these results but do not expect any significant changes to our fair value estimate of $33 per share. We regard the shares as mildly undervalued.
