Thomson Reuters to Carve Out Its Financial and Risk Business

Thomson Reuters has announced its intention to sell 55% of its financial and risk business to private equity firm Blackstone. Thomson will maintain a 45% stake in the business and hold four of the new entity's nine board seats. The divestiture will be a separately traded carve-out. Thomson Reuters will receive $17 billion in proceeds from the deal, which Blackstone will fund by using $14 billion in debt while contributing $3 billion in cash.
