VF's Third-Quarter Revenue Growth Tracks Lower Than Expected, but Long-Term Story Intact
VF Corp reported a disappointing third quarter, with revenue from continuing operations down 1% (versus our expectations for full-year flat revenue growth) and full-year earnings per share guidance lowered to $3.13 from $3.20 (versus our expectation for $3.21). Although this performance is admittedly discouraging, and we continue to see the stock as relatively range-bound until improvements in the U.S. wholesale environment or renewed mergers and acquisitions occur, we continue to believe that V...VF is an apparel and footwear company. The company designs, produces, procures, markets and distributes a variety of lifestyle products, including outerwear, footwear, occupational and performance apparel, jeanswear, backpacks and luggage for consumers of all ages. Products are marketed primarily under the company-owned brand names. The company's segment comprised of: Outdoor, which includes performance-based and outdoor apparel, footwear and equipment; Active, which includes active apparel, footwear and accessories; Work, which consists of work and work-inspired lifestyle apparel and footwear and occupational apparel; and Jeans, which markets denim and related casual apparel products.
