Are the means to prevent a global financial crisis available today?
The global total debt ratio is very high and continues to rise. This may indicate that another global financial crisis is inevitable. But in reality, it is possible to prevent such a crisis if two conditions are met: Monetary policies must gradually become more restrictive, but not to the point where a borrower solvency crisis breaks out; Since, accordingly, monetary policies may remain non-restrictive, macro-prudential policies must stabilise debt ratios and asset prices.
