Balancing Act
Editorial Two clouds are darkening the autumn sky in the Eurozone countries. First, the fight against the spread of the virus is increasingly difficult: while contagion figures in France, Germany and Italy are breaking one record after another, the political capital of various governments is dwindling. Restrictions on private receptions, curfews in the main cities, the measures are increasingly difficult to calibrate – and less and less well received. Another issue is Brexit, the negotiations of which are still stalling, to the point where Boris Johnson says he is ready to leave the negotiations. This adds a little more volatility, 18 days before the US elections.
