The level of share ownership (direct and indirect) is low in the euro zone relative to the United States. This leads us to examine possible barriers to share ownership . They may include: Uncertainty over the right value of the equity risk premium; An information shortfall, weak financial education; Ambiguity (poor knowledge of equity risk); Volatility in share prices; the repetition of crises; The concentration of share ownership (among the wealthiest, via inheritance).
