But can the United States prosper by weakening Europe and China? Such a weakening would: Dampen global trade and US exports; Weaken US companies located in Europe and China, especially as these companies could be affected by retaliatory measures; Push down global demand for oil and the oil price at a time when the United States has become a large oil producer.
