Could rising energy prices curb growth in 2022?

We look at the situations of the United States and the euro zone. Energy prices are rising very rapidly. If they continue to rise at the same rate, there will be a loss of purchasing power and growth in 2022. Whether energy prices will continue to rise will depend on: The energy components driving the rise in prices; Whether the rise in prices is linked to transitory or permanent excess demand for some energy forms. Analysis of the data seems to show that the sharp rise in energy prices results: Not from demand; From a n abnormally low level of oil production relative to demand; From a n anomaly in the price of natural gas (and therefore in spot electricity prices) in Europe, which is spreading to energy prices in Europe, even though global natural gas production is strong. All this points towards a scenario of a downward correction in energy prices.
