Cyclical industrial slowdown in the OECD: The subjective and the objective causes
Since the start of 2018, there has been a marked cyclical industrial slowdown in OECD countries. We believe this slowdown has both: Subjective causes, wh ich may disappear: concern about the trade war and Brexit; Objective causes, which are actually present: the saturation of needs regarding car purchases (in all regions), the low capacity utilisation rate that is weakening productive investment (United Kingdom, euro zone), the downturn in investment and car sales in China.
