Euro area inflation declined in May
After rebounding in April, euro area headline inflation decelerated significantly in May from 1.7 % to 1.2 % . The core inflation index (excluding energy and unprocessed food) slowed down from 1 % to 1.4 %. Both figures came in slightly below expectations (consensus was expecting 1.3 % for the headline and 1.1 % for the core ).
