European elections : The dawn of populism ?

In May, for the eighth time since 1979, EU citizens will choose MEPs to sit in the European Parliament for the next five years. The stakes of these elections are high in a context of rising populism and nationalism across Europe that could change the political orientation of the Parliament. In many countries, the mapping of political parties has been significantly changed since the 2014 European elections. Recent years have shown that political risk is a crucial factor for investors to consider. This cross-expertise aims to answer some of their questions: How has the political landscape evolved in the major European economies? Are the fears of domination of the European Parliament by populist and / or Eurosceptic movements justified? Is the functioning of the European institutions exposed to such a risk? How is this vote perceived by investors?
