France has no comparative advantages for reindustrialisation
The French government aims to reindustrialise France, with plans to help with reshoring and to reduce the obstacles to setting up factories. But the trend in French manufacturing production shows that France continues to deindustrialise. We have to realise that France does not have any comparative advantages for reindustrialisation , due to: Children's very low level of science knowledge; The low proportion of students graduating with a science degree; The disappearance of the skills that the industr ial sector needs ; The small number of industrial mid-caps; High labour costs in industry. It is clear that reindustrialisation will be difficult, and will require a lot of public money and a renewed interest in scientific studies.
