France: It is entirely possible that unemployment will return to the level of structural unemployment without wages accelerating

In France , the unemployment rate remains high at the same time as recruitment difficulties are becom ing very significant . Is it possible that, despite the high unemployment rate, the unemployment rate in France is close to the structural unemployment rate? Those who do not believe in this assumption claim that if the unemployment rate was close to the structural unemployment rate in France, wages would accelerate, which is not the case. But it is entirely possible that unemployment will return to the level of structural unemployment without wages accelerating if : Employees’ bargaining power is weak (which we can also see in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan); Industrial companies have a cost competitiveness problem against those in other euro-zon e countries; Service s companies want to restore their low profit margins.
