France: It is not possible to demand both rapid energy transition and preservation of jobs related to old energy production methods

Public opinion in France - and especially the young - is demanding rapid energy transition to renewable energies. But at the same time, public opinion is upset about job losses in France in industries related to fossil energies (automotive subcontractors, gas turbines). Given the shift to electric cars and the development of renewable energies, these job losses will gain momentum, thereby increasing the conflict between the desire to carry out rapid energy transition and the desire to protect manufacturing employment. How can the conflict between these two desires be limited? By avoiding one-upmanship over the 2ËšC scenario of the Paris agreement, which requires in particular the development of natural gas production to replace coal in a first stage; By working a long time in advance - and not at the last moment - on retraining employees in companies affected by the energy transition.
