France must urgently develop new strong and prosperous economic sectors

Before the COVID crisis, France had five strong economic sectors: Aerospace; Luxury goods; Pharmaceuticals; Tourism; Agri-food. It is possible (likely?) that the COVID crisis will permanently diminish three of these sectors - aerospace, luxury goods and tourism - leaving only two strong (prosperous) sectors: pharmaceuticals and agri-food. These two sectors alone will not be able to provide the necessary job creation in industry and balanced foreign trade. France must therefore develop new strong economic sectors with the potential to become large, for example in the energy transition (electric batteries and storage, biofuels, hydrogen, carbon capture, offshore wind energy, etc.), artificial intelligence and connected objects, etc.
