French inflation still subdued at 0.9% in September
French inflation (CPI) eased from 1 .0 % YoY in August to +0.9 % in September , as expecte d , due to a decline in service prices and , to a lesser extent, food price s . In total, for Q3, inflation increased by +0.2% QoQ and by +1% YoY , compared to Q2 (at +1% QoQ and +1.1% YoY ) French consumer prices decreased by - 0.3% MoM in September after an increase of + 0. 5 % in August. Owing to the usual seasonal effects, services prices strongly slow ing down ( -1.3 % MoM) , while they increase for manufactured products ( +1.5 % MoM) and were broadly stable in the energy component (0. 3 % MoM). Outlook : French inflation in Q3 2019 reache d 1% YoY , and is expected to remain moderate at +1. 1 % in 2020 , mainly on the back of lower oil prices , but also due to the tax freeze on fuel for the whole of 2019 and to low energy prices (electricity and gas)
