Germany is conservative and opposed to economic policy "experiments" in the euro zone
Conservatism in terms of economic policy is very strong in Germany, which means the majority of Germans oppose: Monetisation of public debt (quantitative easing, OMT); A more active use of fiscal policies, even in an environment of very low interest rates; Coordination of tax, social and labour market policies between euro-zone countries. They have been unable to prevent the ECB’s highly expansionary monetary policies, but they are preventing the other economic policy changes over which they have a right of veto.
