GREECE: POLITICAL CHANGE IN SIGHT!
The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has announced that early general elections will be held on Sunday 7 July 2019 (instead of next autumn) after having lost the European, regional and municipal elections between 26 May and 2 June. As he was beaten by the opposition party New Democracy, a political change is very likely according to latest opinion polls. Nevertheless, despite the improvement in the economic situation and in the market’s perception of Greek risk, the room for manoeuvre remains small. As a result, the next government will probably also have limited leeway, especially as the country remains under close surveillance by the European institutions .
