Is it possible that globalisation has had so many negative effects?

Globalisation is often blamed for factory job losses and increasing income inequality. But when we look at the trend in trade with emerging countries, we see that it is very unlikely that globalisation has been able to have such powerful effects . We must therefore look for other causes of deindustrialisation and increasing inequality: a decline in demand for industrial products and in employees’ bargaining power, etc. This result is confirmed by literature, for example: The increase in inequality caused by globalisation reduces the gains due to the opening of trade by only 20% (P. Antras, A. de Gortari, O. Itskhoki (2016) "Globalization, Inequality and Welfare" NBER Working Paper n o. 22676, September); Globalisation explains only a small part of the increase in wage inequality (E. Helpman (2016) "Globalization and wage inequality" NBER Working Paper no. 22944, December).
