Is it time to stop giving priority to purchasing power and consumers?

Public opinion and governments in the euro zone are now pushing: To obtain industrial reshoring; And even protection and protectionism against the rest of the world; To speed up the energy transition and to comply with international climate agreements. The aim is obviously to boost manufacturing employment and prevent climate disruption. But we have to accept the idea that these developments will take place at the expense of purchasing power and consumers, given: The high cost of production in the euro zone relative to emerging countries; The high price of "green" energy relative to "brown" energy; The rise in the cost of housing due to the thermal renovation of housing. This is therefore a significant change in priorities, since supporting consumer has until now been at the centre of economic policies.
