Is the current growth gap between Germany and France permanent or temporary?
In 2019 there is a significant growth gap between France and Germany in favour of France. We seek to determine whether this will become a permanent feature. This growth gap may be: Temporary, if it is a result of different fiscal policy guidelines; Permanent, if it is a result of structural characteristics of the economy: weight of "old" industries and exports, competitiveness, savings rates, profitability. We see that it is the permanent causes that dominate.
