It is better to have economic ties with the United States than with China or Russia

For essentially ideological reasons, some countries (Brazil, African countries) have strengthened their economic ties (trade links, direct investment links) with China and Russia and have distanced themselves economically from the United States. This strategy will be negative for these countries in the medium term: due to population ageing and falling productivity gains, the size of the Chinese and Russian economies will become smaller and smaller relative to the US economy. Linking up with countries in demographic decline is not a strategy that will bring economic dynamism. The strategy of Brazil and Africa can be compared to that of India , which has not severed its trade links with the United States.
