Spain: A key confidence vote for Pedro Sanchez on 23rd of July

Pedro Sanchez, the ruling Prime Minister from the socialist party (PSOE) turned out to be the relative winner of the April 28 th parliamentary elections but his mandate will not be renewed unless he is invested by the Congress following a vote of confidence . On 22 and 23 of July, this confidence vote will take place after the investiture debate . It seems very unlikely that Pedro Sanchez is invested, given the difficulty of the PSOE in achieving a majority in Congress, even with the uncertain support from Unidas Podemos (UP) . A failure to find enough support might lead to a dissolution of the Parliament and new elections in November , but there would still be room in the next two months for the left-wing parties to find a deal and to success in a new attempt .
