The energy transition is above all a social problem

It is important to understand that the energy transition will be more of a social problem than a technological one. Many social problems will arise: Capital and jobs will be destroyed (in the production and use of fossil fuels, in the production of ICE cars, etc.); Energy prices will rise and, as a result, so will income inequality; More investment will have to be made without more income being generated , so consumption will have to be reduced, which is particularly painful for low-income households; Since interest rates must be kept very low so that the necessary investments can be made, real estate prices will continue to rise very quickly, thus increasing difficulties in access to housing; Governments will have to invest more and implement new redistributive policies: this will require tax increases that may not all affect the wealthiest households.
