The fundamental inconsistency of Donald Trump’s economic policy: It is not possible to support consumers and producers at the same time

In several areas, the economic policy choices made by Donald Trump show the contradiction between the determination to boost consumption and to boost production . Trump : Wants a weak dollar, and accuses other countries of manipulating their currencies by weakening them; but while a weak dollar is good for US industry, it is negative for consumers; Accepts the growing concentration of US companies and the appearance of companies with dominant positions, which is blatantly negative for consumers; Has stated that he wants a low oil price to boost consumption but, given the size of the US oil industry, a high oil price would be positive for the US economy as a whole ; Trump is not doing anything to ensure that income distribution in the United States is not so detrimental for employees and therefore for consumers. Altogether, Donald Trump has announced that he wants to boost consumption, but at the same time he has made a number of choices that are negative for US consumers: determination to weaken the dollar, acceptance of corporate concentration and income distribution that are negative for employees .
