TMT : TMT BI MONTHLY Consolidation rears its head... again!

The scenario of a consolidation of the French telecom market remains uppermost on the mind of both operators and investors. The example of the Austrian market, one of the few countries where the regulator publishes details of packet values at regular intervals, shows that a consolidation of the mobile segment (from five to three operators) does not necessarily lead to an increase in prices . Besides the market repair potential, what about the synergies showcased on the occasio n of market consolidations? Have they largely been passed on to customers in the form of further price cuts? Labor market treads water in a choppy sea

The employment report from April showed a labor market that continues to tread water, even if the sea is choppy. The better-than-expected payroll print reflect continued strength in specific sectors (hospitality and healthcare) and boost from transportation and warehousing, likely reflecting increased staffing needs to grapple with looming tariffs. Euro area April flash inflation: core inflation unexpectedly rose in April

Euro area headline flash inflation remained stable in April, at 2.2% Y/Y, slightly above market expectations. However, core inflation unexpectedly picked up to 2.7% from 2.4%, led by an increase in the services sector (3.9% from 3.5%, back to its January pace). Inflation for non-energy industrial goods remained unchanged at +0.6% for the third month in a row, while energy prices dropped again to -3.5% from -1.0% due to a sharp decrease in oil prices.
