Last week, Orange organised an Investor Day that focused on the banking services offered by the telecom operator. A few days later, Société Générale provided an update on its activities in Africa, notably the development of its mobile payments services on the continent . In Africa , with only between 10% and 20% of the population having access to traditional banking servi ces, mobile applications make it possible, using a handset, to complete micropayments and provide access to ancillary services , providing incremental sources of revenues for what are minimal investments (capex) .
