Utilities & AI: seizing the opportunities, navigating the complexity

Artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly matters for Utilities because its development, through data collection and processing, relies on data centers (DCs)-hosted servers. AI adoption is likely to fuel substantial incremental power demand through to 2030, as new, more energy-intensive servers are being deployed. The present document explores the opportunities as well as the sources of complexity associated with AI development for European power Utilities (EDF, EDP, EnBW, Enel, Engie, Iberdrola, Naturgy, Orsted, RWE). It analyzes the various activities presently emerging in the sector to adress Ai's / DCs' power supply needs, in particular from a business risk profile perspective.
