What fiscal policy choices does France have?

Give n a reasonable growth outlook for France and the tax cuts and public spending hikes already decided, the French government has three fiscal policy choices: Let the fiscal deficit increase and fail to meet the European budget constraints. This strategy would entail high political and financial risk s ; Sharply reduce public spending. This may come at a large cost to activity, unless the choice is made to reduce public spending in a way that increases private demand; Chang e the scope of the state so that the private sector provides services previously provided by the public sector. This choice would be politically difficult to defend .
