What has changed profoundly in the global economy over the past 10 years?

We believe the most significant and in some cases most surprising developments in the global economy over the past 10 years are: Obviously , the absence of a return of inflation and interest rate hikes, as well as the continu ation of growth despite the sharp fall in unemployment in OECD countries; Obviously also , the growing role of the climate goals in economic policymaking and in companies’ and investors’ decision-making ; The world’s deindustrialisation, its transformation into a service economy and the gradual return to regional value chains, with implications for global trade, the situation of countries, the structure of jobs and interest rates; China’s transformation into a closed economy, whose growth is driven by consumption of services and which is an exporter of capital.
