What is the global financial cycle correlated with?

We build the global financial cycle as the first principal component (over the period 1995-2018) of all financial asset prices and risk premia . We then look at what the global financial cycle is correlated with over different period s : Global growth? Global liquidity? US monetary policy? Risk aversion? The economic situation in emerging countries or OECD countries? We find that the global financial cycle is correlated significantly and with the expected sign with: Growth (world, China, OECD); Risk aversion; But not the other variables, and especially not US monetary policy.
