Why the dollar is not about to lose its dominant reserve currency status

We believe that the dollar is going to remain the dominant reserve currency, because: Investors do not buy a currency as much as they buy government bonds denominated in that currency. The United States has a greater capacity to provide the rest of the world with a large quantity of public debt while remaining fiscally solvent (if necessary by hiking taxes or monetising public debt) than the euro zone, China or Japan; Currencies whose supply is virtually fixed (cryptocurrencies, gold) are penalised by excessive price variability; Governments will not allow other private currencies to emerge that provide seigniorage income to those who issue them ( this means that Libra will have to remain a means of payment and will not become a currency).
