Whilst the UK and US continue to vaccinate at an impressive rate, our analysis shows that the EU could take until June 2022 to reach herd immunity at the current run rates. Moreover, we estimate the EU will not have sufficient supply to reach herd immunity until Sept 2021. We show the EU is facing the real risk of a 4th wave in the Autumn, due to combination of poor vaccine procurement, vaccine supply issues, slow roll-out, vaccine hesitancy & politicising the AZN vaccine.
