COVID-19 - Reopening But Not As We Know It (13 pgs)

We show that the re-opening of DM economies may take a different form to the one that the market currently expects. We see material downside risk to expectations of a full reopening in 2021 despite our analysis showing vaccine supply is not an issue. The science is clear that the current vaccines are insufficient to fully protect the population and if the S.A. (or any other) variant takes hold in a given country they will return to further lockdowns. We argue that a partial re-opening of the economy with heavily sealed borders for human travel (not goods) will allow a return to domestic normality. This has ramifications for stock selection & country selection.
