NSR Policy: Did BEAD Dodge the EO Bullet?
Last week we wrote about the first week of Trump 2.0 and noted a number of elements that could be in a BEAD related Executive Order (EO). Two days into Trump 2.0 there have been dozens of EOs but none yet, at least directly, targeted at the BEAD program. In this quick policy update, we address the question of whether the BEAD program has dodged the bullet of dramatic change, by discussing the context for the EOs that have been done, a potential appointment that could tell us a lot about the direction Trump will take the BEAD program and what change in particular that the likely nominee has already signaled that is the most investor relevant variable in moving funds from fiber deployment to fixed wireless and satellite broadband, and the odd language of an adjacent EO that may also be an indicator of things to come.
