NSR Policy Spectrum Update: Hegseth and Iron Dome v. Lutnick, Plus Carr on More C-Band
As we reported last week, Commerce Secretary Nominee Lutnick indicated that he favored plans to have Congress force the Department of Defense (DoD) to allow some or all of the lower 3GHz band spectrum to be reallocated to commercial purposes and auctioned for exclusive use. While our take was that the fundamental challenge—DoD opposition—was unchanged, some believed that Lutnick’s comments represented the Trump Administration position and that therefore, the wireless companies would likely be able to obtain the prized spectrum.
