PSA Media & Entertainment: Nintendo (7974 JT) – a PSA 2025 Q2 Focus List Constituent – Switching Systems

In the last month, Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 and has set the launch date [5 Jun] and the launch price [US$449.99], all the while handling tariff uncertainty. It has done a decent job on all fronts. The console is currently selling at a premium on ebay.co.uk and the games like Mario Kart World have got the thumbs-up from influencers and commentators. However, while we like the third-party element, which should boost the lifetime tie-ratio, we are uncertain over whether there is enough wow factor with the new system for it to take Nintendo to a whole new level. While we see the Switch 2 launch as being positive for Nintendo’s stock, arguably the big winners are the third-party software publishers.
