PSA Autos: Fiat Chrysler Renault Merger – Consequences for Nissan
The Fiat Chrysler merger proposal to Renault puts Nissan in a difficult position, as it has no say in the matter and could find itself relegated to being a ‘junior’ partner in a larger group. Except for scale, analyst Julie Boote sees little to benefit Nissan on either a regional or product level. Risk scenarios include Renault or Nissan eventually wanting to leave the alliance, although the possibility of the FCA-Renault merger to fail could make it worthwhile for Nissan to stay put.
