PSA Autos: Gloomy Outlook for Motorcycle Sales – When the Car Business Sneezes, Motorcycles Catch a Cold

With Covid-19 threatening global economies, there is increasing concern over the outlook for auto sales. However, the prospects for the motorcycle sales could be even worse. While the motorcycle markets held up well during the global financial crisis in 2008/2009, analyst Julie Boote thinks that the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic will be different, substantially curtailing demand for two-wheelers in developed and developing countries. Japanese motorcycle assemblers Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha Motor are facing production disruptions, a collapse in sales and forex losses in an already fragile business environment.
