PSA Autos: US Auto Sales for Jan 2019 –SAAR Falls on Bad Weather, Government Shutdown

US auto sales fell 1% YoY to 1.146mil units in Jan 2019, with SAAR reaching the lowest level since Aug 2018 (16.7mil vehicles). Weather conditions, politics and financing conditions played a major part. The sales performance among automakers was very mixed, with differing incentives strategies having an impact.
