PSA Autos: US Auto Sales in July - Mixed Performance for Japan’s Assemblers

July 2019 was the first month for which none of the Detroit Big 3 published US sales numbers, switching to quarterly reporting instead. Japan, Korea and German automakers continue to disclose their numbers on a monthly basis. (Necessarily) excluding the American assemblers, US June auto sales rose 1.3% YoY; dsr-adjusted, sales were down by 2.8% YoY. SAAR is set to come in at 16.6mil units, according to auto data providers’ average estimates. Julie Boote comments.
