High Valuation Stocks Lead Tokyo Rebound During US Long Weekend
With US markets on holiday today, Tokyo had its most NASDAQ-like trading session for some time. Positive responses last week to earnings from SOX names Nvidia (NVDA US) and Marvell (MRVL US) encouraged buying in semiconductor-related names such as Lasertec (6920 JT) (¥18,625 +5.5%) and Hoya (7741 JT) (¥14,025 +2.4%), but it was the good performance of high valuation growth plays such as Recruit (6098 JT) (¥4,694 +6.7%) and Keyence (6861 JT) (¥51,640 +5.3%), which caught the eye. In electronic materials, JSR (4185 JT) (¥4,035 +3.5%) continues to rise following its impressive medium-term explanation last week.
